Excellent opportunity for you to join the UK’s leading manufacturer of mineral wool insulation for commercial, industrial and home installations. As part of 35 operating companies throughout Europe and North America, our client’s product is authentic and wholly natural, and provides a triple combination of advantages - it is energy saving which reduces fuel bills, it is fire safe which protects buildings and it offers acoustic improvement to reduce noise nuisance. As a company they are committed to a healthy and safe working environment for employees and site contractors as well as providing suitable opportunities for employee development.

They are now looking to recruit a Technical Marketing Consultant to provide leadership and expert technical support in matters relating to thermal insulation and other energy-related components within buildings, including sustainability issues. The role will involve extensive work with important external bodies, for example being actively involved with Building Regulations and national and international standards.

Principal accountabilities will include:

• To formulate ‘public affairs’ strategies. This will involve: a) the identification of areas of key importance to our client and b) influencing the identified rules, codes, standards, regulations, etc to secure that they are relevant, accurate and fair. These activities fall particularly within the areas of indoor climate and environmental protection but also relate to the fields of H&S, fire safety and acoustics.
• To proactively provide leadership and guidance to internal and targeted external customers.
• To identify opportunities arising from public affairs activities in support of the company business units.
• To provide a focal point for complex technical enquiries.

Educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have technical understanding in the areas of either thermal insulation or sustainability. Your background could be from a broad range of disciplines relating to manufacturing, building (construction) or building design. You should have the ability to work on detailed, sometimes complex, technical research projects, as well as play an active leadership/influencing role, representing our client on a variety of external committees. You will also be able to take a lead role in some areas of operational management of the department, in the absence of the Technical Marketing Manager.
