POWER ELECTRONICS
STAFFORDSHIRE
First class career opportunities now exist for Principal Engineers to join this successful and well-established company which designs and manufactures Power and Magnetic product solutions for the Defence and Transit markets world-wide.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Principal Engineers will carry out a vital role as part of a dedicated project team, challenged with the task of delivering robust and cost effective power systems. You will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities covering all stages of a project from bid to delivery. The role will challenge your experience of designing optimum solutions in a cost competitive environment.
Working closely with other team members and sub-contractors, you will plan and carry out your activities to develop technical solutions, which successfully meet with the overall objectives of your project. You will act as design authority or lead engineer on projects and provide a technical point of contact for Project Managers and customers.
The Principal Engineer will provide optimum technical solutions, proposal input and estimates at the bid stage to maximise business opportunities. You will plan, lead and conduct major areas of engineering programmes requiring significant judgement and technical expertise to implement solutions profitably. You will also plan, lead and conduct project meetings and design reviews to ensure the implementation is in accordance with the project requirements.
Your responsibility will also be to provide a technical point of contact for the Project Manager, other project team members and the customer. You will remain informed of leading edge thinking and technology, in appropriate application domains. You will also act as mentor to technical staff to ensure their continuing professional development.
Furthermore, you will train and coach other staff to maintain engineering standards and to disseminate key technological changes.
Successful candidates will be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline and ideally be of Chartered status or hold relevant experience. Experience within an electronic engineering development environment is essential.
You would be joining the operating division of a world-leading aerospace and defence electronics company providing specialist products across the globe. It is part of a group of businesses specialising in the design, manufacture and support of electronic and electromechanical products and sub systems for the international defence, transit and aerospace markets.
