A first class opportunity has arisen for a CHP Design Manager to join a leading European provider of energy services to local authorities and companies who offer customers end-to-end multi-energy solutions, applying their skills to deliver a comprehensive package of water, energy, waste management and transport services.
As Design Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful design development of commercially viable sales solutions involving sub 25 MWe Combined Heat & Power plants, including all varieties of prime movers. Your responsibility will extend from original concept through to the placement of subcontracts for the supply and installation of all elements for multi-million pound installations including a CHP prime mover. In particular, you will be responsible for the commercial modelling of schemes prior to sale, capital cost estimating, energy cost estimating, maintenance and repair/replacement cost estimating, initial CHPQA calculations for new schemes and operational modelling taking account of spark spread.
Working as part of a small team of Engineers and Business Development Managers, you will be able to quickly assess the optimum commercial solution from a number of options, taking account of all relevant factors.
Qualified to degree level in an Engineering or Science discipline preferably mechanical or electrical, you will have substantial experience gained as a Design Manager/Engineer with some of that experience gained in the development of sub 25 MWe CHP projects. You will have wide experience of developing scheme designs including reciprocating engines, gas turbines and steam turbines together with associated boiler plant and heat recovery systems and you will have a good working knowledge of electrical power systems design to supplement the role. You will also have a demonstrable ability for option appraisal, scheme design development and cost estimating. Finally, you will have a good awareness of control & instrumentation systems, metering & monitoring in relation to CHP as well as a good understanding of sub-contracting and the project management process.
Membership of an Engineering or energy-related professional body is desirable.
You must have a full driving licence.
