A first class opportunity has arisen for an HV Design Manager to join a leading European provider of energy services to local authorities and companies who offer customers end-to-end multi-energy solutions, applying their skills to deliver a comprehensive package of water, energy, waste management and transport services.
As HV Design Manager, you will be the primary electrical power systems specialist for the Sales team, providing innovative electrical engineering solutions to the Business Development Managers & Sales Development Engineers in order to present attractive proposals to customers and meet new business sales targets.
In particular, you will lead the design process for electrical power generation and distribution schemes, CHP installations and standby power generation schemes to meet company policy and customer requirements, ensuring that each proposed solution is technically viable, represents a good engineering solution and is cost-effective. You will also liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) in the design and installation of new CHP installations and work together with the Deputy Head of Electrical Power Systems and other Operational colleagues to ensure new schemes are designed to meet company policy and standards, are installed as designed, are commissioned as complete working systems and are successfully handed over into operation. Overall you will ensure that your contribution provides the Company with the best opportunities for profitable growth
You will also take an active part in preparing and presenting external proposals to a wide variety of customers at all levels of responsibility. Moreover, you will maintain an up-to-date technical knowledge of electrical generation, protection and distribution systems up to 36kV, CHP installations up to 30MW (including engines and steam and gas turbines) and standby electrical installations up to 5MWe and you will carry out system and fault/grading studies. In addition, you will produce functional design specifications, single line diagrams and operating philosophies. Finally, you will prepare budget capital and operating costs for input to the sales pricing process.
Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an Electrical Engineering discipline, you will have a background in CHP and standby power systems design, installation, commissioning and operation as well as experience of Option Appraisal, Modelling and Solutions Development. You will also have experience of Concept/Scheme Design and business development.
Membership of an Electrical Engineering body is desirable
You must have a full driving licence.
