ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

Our client, an oil storage terminal operator with a 300,000m³ oil storage facility, is now looking to recruit a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager with experience of the petrochemical industry to have overall company responsibility for developing and implementing Health, Safety & Environmental policies and strategies.
In particular, you will be expected to build a strong working relationship with the terminal staff to allow full understanding of terminal and engineering operations to critique and implement any required HS&E procedures to improve operations. You will also be required to interpret and implement legislation to ensure that the business operates in a legal and proper way. In addition, you will interface with customer HS&E management, where required, to develop policies to reflect those customers needs. You will also keep track of any potential changes to Health & Safety regulations that may have a material impact on Operations or any other action that may impact the business and report the impact these changes may have to the senior management team. Moreover, you will run and maintain a KPI system to give an accurate reflection of H&S standards at the terminal and utilise this information to develop improvement training and/or procedures. Finally, you will be expected to represent the company at relevant trade and professional events and participate in trade and legislative committees as and when required.
Qualified to degree level/HND or equivalent in an appropriate engineering or chemical discipline, you will have a good working knowledge of COMAH and hydrocarbon /chemical handling and experience of HS&E for major capital projects. A working knowledge of Storage Tanks and bulk liquid operations and its associated environmental implications would be desirable.
The successful candidate will become a key part of the Senior Management team and will help define strategies to develop the site into a world class facility.
