A Power Electronic Engineer is now required by our client, the world - leader in the design and manufacture of electric motors and revolutionary new wheel motors for the automotive and allied industries based in Hampshire.
The Power Electronic Engineer will need a bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent. Detailed knowledge of the principles, design and implementation of power switching for motor drives and switch mode power supplies including IGBT and MOSFET design for applications up to 600VDC is required. You will also need detailed knowledge of Brushless DC motors and the recovery of energy through regenerative braking and of Gate drives and isolation techniques for motor drives.
Experience with H-bridge and 3 phase bridge configurations and construction of prototypes for evaluation and validation is necessary for this role. You will also require software skills for use of microprocessors in both products and test equipment. You will also need experience with different PCB substrates FR4, IMS and DBC and track developments of component and of manufacturing techniques to maintain up to date products which utilise the best engineering solution available.
Furthermore successful candidates will have previous experience of designing for automotive applications components and standards; schematic capture tools Cadstar or equivalent and PCB layout tools Cadstar or equivalent.
Good Project management skills and the ability to undertake multiple projects are required for this role. You will also have previous experience of designing for EMC and EMC testing and certification. A self starter who can work with minimal supervision, you will also have knowledge of Infineon XC series microcontrollers and have an awareness of designing for harsh environments.
