An exciting opportunity to join a top 100 small company within the software industry. Whilst this is a junior role you will need at least one year as a dedicated technical author and a background in a highly technology focused field.
The documentation ranges from administrator and user guides to documents aimed at developers integrating external applications. Some development background would be a definite bonus.
The Role
You will report to the senior author and you will:
? Write and update customer-facing product documentation for the software suite.
o The product documentation is written using DocBook XML and delivered in PDF, Word, and HTML Help output formats
? Produce release notes to accompany product releases
? Compile training course material and (eventually) deliver training courses on the software
? Peer-review the documentation and proof read and review documents for other departments
? Assist with maintaining and updating the copy for the external website and internal intranet system.
Experience
? An excellent degree in a science or engineering discipline combined with strong writing skills
? At least one year as a dedicated Technical Author
? A strong interest in technology and experience within a high technology sector together with a fundamental understanding of computing and technology
? Experience of DocBook XML and/or single-sourcing

? Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential. You must be able to produce documentation that is clearly written, easy to understand, consistent, and accurate
? Ability to manage time, prioritise work, work under pressure and and multi-task effectively
? Disciplined and detail-oriented. Ensures that all work performed is planned, executed and checked thoroughly. Shows a great attitude and strong commitment to quality and excellence
? A can do attitude and an interest in learning about products to a detailed level
? Passionate about technology, and keen to understand the fundamentals of how software works. Comfortable with using technology.
